Questions and answers

What is Sequel Box?

Sequel Box is a 3D video editor for Windows and your browser. It has a layered timeline, click-to-add keyframes, one-click 3D presets, 72 built-in sounds and Figma paste, and it exports MP4 video.

Is Sequel Box free?

Version 1.0.0 is free to try.

Which devices does it run on?

Install it on Windows, run the portable file from any folder or USB drive, or open the web editor in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge or Safari.

What is the difference between the installer and the portable version?

The installer adds Start Menu and Desktop shortcuts and lets you open .sbox files with a double-click. The portable version is a single file that runs from any folder, with nothing to install.

Does Sequel Box work offline?

Fonts, the 3D library and the video encoder load from the internet on first use, so connect once before you start.

Why does Windows show SmartScreen?

The app isn’t code-signed yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Can I open .sbox files with a double-click?

Yes, if you used the installer. The portable file doesn’t register file types.

Which video, image and audio formats can I import?

MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WMV, WebM and more, plus images, audio, PDF pages and GLB/GLTF 3D models. If your browser can’t play a video, Sequel Box converts it for you. See the full list on the features page.

Why does a video need converting on import?

If your browser can’t play a video file, Sequel Box converts it inside the page and imports the result. Conversion needs an internet connection.

Can I open older project files?

Yes. Older project files (.sequelbox, .framecut and .json) open too.

How do click-to-add keyframes work?

Choose a spacing (0.25, 0.5, 1 or 2 seconds, or your own). Each click on a property’s keyframe button adds a keyframe one step after the last one, so you never drag the playhead. Adjust any keyframe afterwards. See how it works.

What are the 3D presets?

There are five one-click presets: cube turn, doors, fly-in, loop and camera orbit. Apply one to a clip, preview it, then fine-tune it on the timeline. They work on single clips and on several clips at once.

How does auto-apply sound work?

Turn on Auto-apply by name in the Sounds panel. A layer named click, whoosh or pop (or any sound or folder name) gets that sound at its start. See the sound library.

Can I use my own sounds?

Yes. Use Add folder to connect a folder of MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC or Opus files. They appear under My folders and work with auto-apply too. Folder access works in Chrome and Edge.

Can I paste from Figma?

Yes. Copy layers in Figma and press Ctrl+V in the editor. Each layer lands on its own layer in the timeline.

What sizes can I make for social media?

Start from a canvas for Instagram, TikTok, Reels, Shorts, YouTube, Pinterest or X, and turn on the safe-zone overlay so captions never hide under the app’s buttons.

What does Sequel Box export?

MP4 video at 24, 30 or 60 fps, at full, 75% or 50% resolution. You can also save any single frame as a PNG.

How do I contact you?

Write to hello@sequelbox.com or use the contact page.

Can an AI agent make videos in Sequel Box?

Yes, in the Windows desktop app. Open Connect AI agent…, turn on agent access, and add Sequel Box to Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or another MCP-compatible app. The agent then creates the project and exports the MP4. See the MCP page for steps.

Does the AI agent work in the browser version?

No. AI agents can only connect to the Sequel Box desktop app for Windows. The installer version is recommended.

Is the AI agent connection private?

Yes. It runs on your own computer through localhost with a random access token, and it is off until you switch it on. Every edit is a normal undo step.
